A Roggenbier? This’ll have you flicking through the pages of your Oxford Companion to Beer. To save you the trouble, it’s a very old German beer with a hefty addition of rye malt.
The Roggenbier style was abandoned In 1516 with the introducton of the Reinheitsgebot (purity law excluding all grains except barley malt). It lay dormant for nearly 400 years before being brewed again in the 80’s. And the hops? The Hop Nation boys love juicy US I NZ hops. So we obliged.
Brewed at Hop Nation in Footscray (Vic).
